TEMPUS: Manna has now become 100% vegan. Don't miss their cashew cheese croquettes or mouth-watering Caribbean platter!
VEGANBITS: One of Europe’s oldest vegetarian restaurants, Manna has recently changed its focus and now views itself as a vegan restaurant. Must haves include the Caribbean platter, featuring jerk tofu and pot stew of coconut milk and seasonal vegetables, organic bangers and mash (sausages and mash potatoes to those outside the UK) and the ability to build your own meal where you can choose any 4 sides. The substantial menu means you’ll be sure to find something that appeals.
VEGAN DAWN: I tried the Cannellini Bean Slider: a mini burger served with spiced potato wedges. After having an arancini burger at Vegan Life Live the bar had been set high, but I was not left disappointed. The portion size was ample and the food flavoursome. My partner chose the Vegetable Tempura, which was also delicious; I love vegetable tempura with sweet chilli dip, especially when the batter is so light and fluffy. We couldn’t squeeze in a dessert each so opted to share the Vice Cream and Cookie Semi-Freddo. Beautifully presented, the berries were divine, but the main part of the dessert was rock hard and needed a little excavation (if you wanted to eat it straight away – we couldn’t wait it looked so good). Plus point was that it made it last longer and was a tasty compliment to the rest of the meal.
TRIP ADVISOR: ("A little jewel, tucked away") - There's nothing complicated about providing a good eating experience for customers. Healthy food, nicely presented by friendly staff who know what they're doing, in a welcoming room. Manna has been in business for over 50 years so seems to be getting it right! I'm embarrassed that after living in or near London for several decades, this was my first visit... Definitely worth a try...!
